Welcome to the King’s College School Cambridge Development Appeal Website!
This website will keep everyone informed and in touch with plans, ideas, and progress.
Phase 2 of the Appeal will, we hope, provide a new sports hall, squash courts, and indoor swimming pool.
Everyone involved with the school has benefited from the generosity of previous generations and we invite you to become part of this tradition. Our music block, which houses 16 fabulous practice rooms, was built with the funds from two significant donations, whilst the Wiles Building, housing ICT and DT, was newly built and fully equipped from school reserves. The Appeal in 1991, 'Save St Martin’s', was wonderfully supported by past and present pupils and parents, and the handsomely refurbished building allowed us to establish a now very successful pre-prep school.

Over recent years the school has seen significant improvements that have served to maintain the happy, creative and productive atmosphere for which King’s is famous.
The School now boasts some excellent new facilities. In June 1999 the new Wiles Building for Design and Information technology was opened and in May 2001 Sir David Willcocks opened a new suite of 16 music practice rooms. In the Briggs Building, opened by Katharine, Duchess of Kent in May 2005, we now have splendid new Science laboratories, English, Maths, and Modern Languages rooms, as well as the really magnificent Stafford Library. Now it is time to further improve the all weather sports facilities with a new sports hall and an indoor swimming pool.
When the Appeal is complete we hope to establish a school foundation for bursaries and on-going site development that will build on the work that has been done. The Governors are committed to laying firm foundations for the future and so this will help to realise our long-term vision for the School. Investment is part of any school’s commitment and we intend to continue the tradition of preserving the high standards that King’s has always aspired to.
The origins of the School go back to 1441, when Henry VI founded King’s College in Cambridge, and laid down that there should be a choir to sing in his chapel each day, and a master to supervise the education and welfare of the choristers. The musical life of the Chapel is still enriched by the contribution of the choristers. Today the School has over 300 pupils who flourish in its happy, creative atmosphere, and whose academic lives benefit from a tradition of excellence and strong purpose. The Appeal, which aims to provide much needed modern facilities, will enhance the School and open up greater opportunities for the children. I hope you will give it your strong support.
